St. Mary's Church, Hay-on-Wye. Wardens’ Annual Report, 2013
It is with pleasure that your wardens are able to report that although at first sight it may appear that not a lot has been done to the church and other property that we hold, this is not the case.
This month’s letter from our Parish Priest
The parish church here at Hay is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin. We are blessed too by having another church in our benefice under her care and patronage - St Mary's, Capel y ffin. When I pray the Mass in the little church there I often think of the old saying, "become a hermit and the world will beat its path to your door", for this obscure little shrine in the Llantony valley has thousands of visitors throughout the year. There are many reasons for the interest in the tiny church and the beautiful valley in which it quietly testifies to God and His Kingdom. A whole litany of famous people have sought this place out as a place of encounter with God, many artists, poets, and visionaries have found this place a place where "prayer is valid", a place where the veil between the visible world and the invisible has worn diaphanously thin.
Our recently retired Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, now Lord Williams of Oystermouth has requested to meet the regular communicants of our three churches.Read further
